Lay It Down

Al Greens Lay It Down kom ut denne uken. Albumet er bra, sjekk for eksempel tittelsporet med Anthony Hamilton.

Questlove forteller Waxpoetics hvordan han endte opp med å jobbe med Al Green:

"I was doing an interview in another periodical, and I got challenged to actually search for Bill Withers. We were talking about the art of sampling, which is our connection to the music of the '70s and '60s and before, and which has pretty much been cut off at the hip, because now it's too expensive. Like Ghostface: it's hard for him to make a decent living when eighty percent of his budget is going to clearing samples. So this is a few years ago, when D'Angelo, Lauryn, Erykah, Bilal, like anybody in my movement from the '90s into the 2000s, with the exception of Common, nobody was making moves. So I kind of joked, 'Well, I guess I gotta just work with someone over sixty, simply because that's all I got left!' So Eli [Wolf from Blue Note] read that and said, 'You know, I don't have Bill Withers but I do have Al Green.' Bing! That just sett the light off."

Bli med i studio under inspillingen av Lay It Down, med Questlove, James Poyser, John Legend, Corinne Bailey Rae, Anthony Hamilton, The Dap-King Horns og Al Green selv (som liker å omtale seg selv i tredjeperson):
